Hot foil printing

Hot foil printing, also called hot foil blocking or stamping is most commonly associated with the use of metallic foils.  Our method is done with a traditional hot foil press using custom magnesium plates (or dies) that work with a combination of heat and pressure to leave the imprint onto the invitation (or other stationery items and more).

Aside from the traditional gold and silver, metallic foils are available in an extensive choice of colours so we can work with you to personalise the invitations to your colour scheme, as well as offer a choice of stock that we print onto - it doesn't have to be just white!

There are also many other options when it comes to foil, as we offer not only metallic, but many other pigment colours with either a matt or glossy finish, plus pearlescent, fluorescent and a transparent foil that simulates spot uv varnish, but is more economical.  All of the metallic and non metallic foils produce stunning results.

We often combine digital printing with hot foil printing, which allows another dimension onto stationery.  Only parts of the design are hot foiled to create an accent and make it really stand out.

Hot foil printing works not only with stationery - we often use the plates to imprint onto many other items.  Once the custom plates are made, they are good to use hundreds of times (if not more) and provide a tactile, beautiful finish that is highly durable.
